- Today, November 17, in 1947, Virgil Earp's wife Allie passed away in Los Angeles. She recalled her Tombstone experience:
"The first weeks we were there it seemed like a strange wild place. Wagons and horsemen coming and going and cowboys riding in and out. Prospectors and gamblers and business men and men of all kinds busy at everything. When we got there...every house was taken [and] people were camping on the spot in wagons or a tent waiting to move in. Everything and everyone was huddled up like people living at the foot of the tower of Babel. And so was I."
Allie was the last surviving member of the Earps that lived in Tombstone. She was 98 years old.Today, November 17, in 1947, Virgil Earp's wife Allie passed away in Los Angeles.
